FIBERGLASS GRATING MADE OF REINFORCED POLYESTER RESIN

These are gratings of polyester resin, coating a framework of fiberglass that besides the fire resistant characteristics and the resistance to corrosion they also have the mechanical properties and resistance to impact precised to substitute the traditional galvanised stell grating.

The polyester resins used are:

  • Isophthalic
  • Vinylester

  • Flat surface grating; The most inexpensive solution without antislippery treatment which makes it optimal for its use in vertical structures.
  • Concave surface grating ; An intermediate antislippery solution excellent for environments without excessive transit of people
  • Gritted surface grating with silica ; A gritted coating with silica give to these gratings excellent antislippery properties which can be used for long periods of time and are suitable for more complicated environments (ice, wax, oil,…) and with more transit of people.
  • Surface with minimesh: An option that divide the mesh in four spaces adding intermediate nerves reducing the size of  the mesh making these surfaces suitable for people with reduced mobility, keeping space for the evacuation of liquids avoiding the formation of puddles.
  • Flat surface plate; Surface without intermediate spaces for the evacuation of liquids.
  • Flat surface plate with “toothpick” pattern; Flat surface without spaces to evacuate liquids and with  “toothpick”  pattern shape to give antislippery properties.

Environmets considerations concerning the waste treatment

It is an inert product. Wastes must be deposited ans treated according to the local regulations concerning the construction waste. The material do no represent any special environmental risk. It is being researched the possibility of reciclyng at the end of the lifespan of the products as for example initiatives for the reuse of the production of cement.

Considerations regarding the manipulation

Because of the volume and weight, the workers must follow the relevant health at work tips regarding the manipulation of these kind of products, especially when working in a manual way.

In the process of cut and machining of these products dust can be emit, being a inert dust and non toxical but against its inhalation workers should take preventive measures using masks. In closed environments there should be a proper ventilation.

If the dust emit by the the material is considered to be the responsible of any skin reaction, the affected area should be washed with abundant water and soap. If the dust go into the eyes causing reaction of these organs they must be washed with abundant esteril water or bottled in environmet temperature. In both cases the person affected should be attended by a doctor as soon as possible.
